INTERVIEW Joe Terry

“What are your thoughts on playing Barcelona in this final?

Barcelona are a fantastic team. They’ve obviously got their recent history to prove it. We respect them a lot, but it’s a final, so everybody turns up and gives their best. It will be a good game of football. Barcelona are obviously notorious for their style of play, but we’re a task-focused team. We’re best when we’re like that.

What does this competition mean to you?

This is the one trophy that I’ve not been anywhere near until this season. So it’s missing. It’s the hardest for a reason. There’s magic involved in that. I feel like you don’t win without having some sort of magic with you, or created by you. It means a lot, to have been here and stayed at this club for so long, wanting this outcome, it feels amazing.

What would it mean to win it with Arsenal?

It would mean the world. For my family, for all the years that I’ve spent here, to feel like I’ve given back in that way, leaving a mark on the history of the club – I would be very, very proud.
